Applelec invests in student interns for the summer

Applelec is expanding its student support activities by introducing two student interns to join its marketing and electrical teams.

Applelec has always been enthusiastic about encouraging student development. The company will be providing the opportunity for the interns to gain experience and develop their skills whilst giving them an insight in to their chosen field of work, inspiring them to learn about their own interests and abilities. Alongside this, the students will give back novel perspectives and fresh ideas on work methods whilst fulfilling numerous planned tasks.

The company welcomes 17-year-old A-level student, Mollie Earnshaw from Ryburn Valley High School on a two-week work placement in the marketing department. Mollie currently studies media, business, sociology and photography at sixth-form College and hopes to pursue a degree and career in marketing and advertising. Her duties include updating Applelec’s social media networks, writing press releases on current company news and an email campaign for Applelec yacht, and admin duties such as database work and archiving trade magazines.

16-year-old Michael Joannies from Beckfoot High School has recently finished his final year of high school and hopes to attend Craven College in September. He has joined Applelec’s electrical team on a two-week work placement working with the technical support manager. Michael will be assisting with the build of bespoke Powerbox solutions and building Connect cable assemblies for stock and bespoke requests.

Ian Drinkwater, managing director at Applelec said, ‘Applelec have always been keen to support students through the academic process, we hope that Mollie and Michael will take a great deal of knowledge away from this opportunity and that it will potentially influence their career path decisions. We are eager for them to get the most out of this experience, therefore we have planned many engaging tasks and responsibilities in relation to their career interests. We are looking forward to working with them both’.
