Applelec supports Bradford Manufacturing Week

Applelec was recently involved in the Bradford Manufacturing Week, a unique event to showcase West Yorkshire’s strength and depth in manufacturing. The scheme is designed to inspire, encourage and educate young people about the opportunities within a manufacturing career, and as part of the event, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from the Co-op Grange Academy to our Applelec Business Park.

For the scheme, we provided an in-depth tour of our factory and facilities to a small group of students interested in pursuing a career within manufacturing and engineering.

Devised to highlight how diverse a career within manufacturing can be, the tour took the students around our metal fabrication facilities, LED Light Sheet factory and signage assembly room, where the students were able to gain insights into the various manufacturing procedures, machinery and equipment. The tour was also designed to emphasise the craftsmanship required to deliver quality products with demonstrations from the Applelec teams and how skills and techniques are taught on the job from metal letter making to wiring assembly. As well as this, the students were given the opportunity to talk with the Applelec staff who provided first-hand experiences, knowledge and expertise on working within this industry.

As part of the tour, Applelec created an LED Light Sheet illuminated sign for the Co-op Grange Academy to take away and display within their school. The sign helped to outline the manufacturing procedures for the students to see a project from start to finish, whilst also providing the opportunity for the students to get hands on by practicing their vinyl application skills.
