APPLELEC GROUP WIN MADE IN BRITAIN IMPACT AWARD FOR SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

The Applelec team are delighted to announce they have won the prestigious Made in Britain - Impact Award 2022 for the ‘Employee Engagement Campaign of the Year', which celebrates an organisation that successfully engages every employee across the business with its sustainability strategy.

Along with this, Applelec Group was shortlisted for a second award for 'Sustainable Initiative of the Year', which celebrates initiatives or products that help users to live more sustainably.

Professor Chris Harrop OBE, director of Sustainability at Marshalls plc and guest judge for the event said: "All three companies on the shortlist have achieved remarkable progress in this area - with Applelec the very worthy winner of this year's award."

The progress we have made and improvements in efficiency, as well as reusing and recycling practices has been made possible through our Applelec Eco Pledge.

This pledge is our commitment, as a responsible signage and lighting manufacturer, to look at ways big and small to improve the sustainability of the business and the products we supply, within four focus areas, nature, climate, waste, and manufacturing.

The progress we have made in less than a year, not only demonstrates what is possible when we work together, but also the passion and engagement Applelec staff have across the business to protect and repair the environment.

The positive impact this pledge has had across the business has fundamentally changed the mindset within Applelec to the point that sustainability and our Eco Pledge, are now an integral part of both conversations across the business and our strategy for growth.

“Moving forward sustainability needs to continue to be at the forefront of what we want to achieve as a business.” Steve Watts - Applelec’s Signage Sales Team Manager

“I’m proud that Applelec are one of the first to develop eco signage and backlighting products and I would like to see sustainability continue to grow inline with how we’re growing as a company.” Jonny Francis - Applelec’s Signage Production Planning Manager

“I see Applelec working towards all products being as green/eco as possible, creating more and more innovative eco products and standards.” Claire Sanchez - Applelec’s Marketing & PR Manager

“It’s hard to articulate in a few words the positive impact our ‘Eco range’ has had not just on our customer and specifier base, but on Applelec employees.” Carl Eastwood – Director of Applelec

As part of our sustainability initiative, we have partnered with JUST ONE Tree to facilitate our contribution to reforestation schemes and are proud to have planted 259 trees to date. Along with this we are WEEE regulated, as well as selective teamed up with eco conscious suppliers.

One of our biggest achievements includes designing and manufacturing industry leading environmentally friendly signage and lighting products, including the industry’s first, fully environmentally friendly light panel, our Green Applelec LED Light Sheet, to our eco-friendly signage range that includes the popular ECO Lightbox and ECO built-up letters.

The team couldn’t be prouder to have this hard work recognised by such a respected organisation and are thankful to the Made in Britain judges and community for their support and recognition of our sustainability efforts. We are committed to continuing on our sustainability journey and look forward to breaking further ground in 2023.
